Cute and functional milk glass (opal ware) mixing / nesting bowl from Federal Glass Company. Lovely white heat proof glass with a bluish green teal coloured pattern. Pattern shows a variety of antique style kitchen utensils such as stylized mixing spoons, a tea kettle, coffee pot, coffee grinder, lantern, iron rest, etc. Scroll-work type leaves and vines are woven throughout these implements. Manufactured in the 1960s, I have heard this pattern referred to as 'Kitchen Aids', 'Scandinavia', 'American Homestead', and 'Amish'. I am not sure of the official name. I believe this is the second largest sized mixing bowl from an original set of 4 (1.75 quart bowl). The bottom is marked with the 'F' within a shield for Federal Glass and states 'heat proof' and 'U.S.A.'. Bowl is in excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Shiny with little to no pattern loss. Some very minor marks here and there. Measures 4" (10cm) tall. Has a mouth diameter of 8" (20.25cm) and a base diameter of 5" (12.75cm). Holds about 1.75 quarts (7cups / 1700mls / 56 fl oz ).
